From Dec 28, 2017 to Jan 5, 2018 an italian group of 8 people came in Okinawa to train with me at my Dojo, and in Shorin - ryu with Maeshiro Morinobu Sensei (balck belt 10th dan). Ten days passed together, where in addition to teaching, I was a translator and a tour guide in the Island. Of 8 people, only 5 were practitioners including three Masters. They trained hard in my dojo for 3 sessions, and with Maeshiro Sensei for 5 sessions, and moreover they come to running with me, and trained themselves on morning time in Chatan (Araha Beach), where I am living. We visited several intersting karate and kobudo places, loke Karate Museum, Shurijo Castle, Funakoshi Gishin monument, some temple, and other. Of course, they enjoyed Okinawa weather, with beautiful temperature and sun in the beach. And the calm, that exists only in this magic place, that is Okinawa. On December 31, two more people arrived from Italy, one of whom is a Master, and we spent the New Year all together.
These last two people, and another one of the first Group, have also trained in Eskrima with me in my Dojo.
It was my pleasure to be useful to everyone, helping to undesrtand Okinawa Karate, and introducing Eskrima.
I want to say a special thanks to Sensei Paolo Ornaghi, Sensei Stefano Martinalli, Sensei Pompeo Ungaro (who trained also in Eskrima), and Sensei Marco Resigno and his wife (who trained both in Eskrima). As well, thank you to Marzio Tagliabue and Claudio Magni (students of Sensei Paolo Ornaghi), and other people not practitioners for their kindness and great company. See you next time here, or in Italy. Sayonara!
